Coastal Revision

Perched on the shore of Penobscot Bay in the small coastal town of Belfast, this new home replaces an aging structure that once stood in the same spot. Our goal was to honor the intimacy of the original footprint while opening the house to the extraordinary water views. Working within the strict framework of shore land zoning regulations, we shaped the design to maximize transparency and proximity, with outdoor rooms, layered glazing, and compact massing that invites light and air through every elevation. Rich cedar shingles, natural wood tones, and black-trimmed windows lend the home a warm, grounded identity against its coastal backdrop.
